Holiday Gift Guide — Yes, it’s that time of the year. The time when we put together a list of local finds that anyone would love to receive. Not only are they made with love, but these gifts support local businesses — and THAT is what truly matters.
From local art and wearables from artisans in the area to sweet treats that will win anyone over, it’s time to check out what we have in store for you.
Sure, there are paintings and photographs, but this year, let’s go a little non-traditional. It’s time to check out local artist, Alejandra Franky of Paper Point. She produces decorative handmade frames and seasonal cards made with the quilling technique and they’re perfect for sending out to your friends or family or hanging in your living room.
We met Lisa Ruiz from Stellated Studio at our last night market, and we’ve been just a little bit obsessed ever since. She designs a line of beautiful, handcrafted, sterling silver jewelry pieces in Miami — and trust us, you’ll want all of them; instagram.com/stellatedstudio/
No outfit is complete without the right bag. Am I right or am I right? — and no shopping trip is complete without a visit to susisusi.com, a company that gives artisan women of Equador a means to share their culture.
Gifting one of their straw bags will not only bring some color to the perfect outfit, but it will support these artisan women, who make these bags entirely by hand.
For that health-conscious friend who knows that what you put on your body is as important as what you consume, it’s time to take a look at Red Panda Naturals. Red Panda Naturals makes soaps, soy candles, herbal bath teas, sea sponges and natural luffas with no preservatives, no phthalates and no artificial dyes. One of our favorites, for a holiday gift, is the Rose Petal bar of soap made with rose clay; facebook.com/redpandanaturals/
When I first met Glo, who is a member here at Social House, I knew her as a brilliant kitchen designer, who owns the company ArtFul Kitchens, but soon learned of her love for watercolor. She has created a line of abstract watercolor paintings that have been inspired by her travels throughout Florida and beyond that present a feeling of calmness and zen. Gloria Sollecito
For more holiday gift ideas, we invite you to our Holiday Night Market taking place on December 14. During this event, you’ll not only find ALL of these gifts, but you’ll find more gift ideas from locals artists in the area.
