Test Kitchen: Indian Coastal Thali with Pushkar Marathe

At Social House, we’re all about new ideas, creative collaborations, and fearless experimentation. When our Housemate Libby Volgyes approached us about providing an environment for chefs to create across kitchens while guests enjoy their efforts, how could we resist?

The second event in our Test Kitchen series features Chef Pushkar Marathe (former chef de cuisine at Meat Market), who will be sharing an Indian-style Thali with us: a meal designed as a perfect balance of sweet, salt, bitter, sour, astringent and spicy flavors on a single plate. A welcome cocktail, canapés and perfectly paired wines will accompany the experience in our Sidebar.

A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit Chefs for the Keys, joining more than 20 other chefs throughout the county supporting food and beverage hospitality workers who are out of work from Hurricane Irma.

In an effort led by chef Adam Brown of The Cooper and private chef Troy Sheller of En-Flux, fellow chefs are donating a portion of their total daily revenue for October 5 (the day of this dinner), followed by a special grand-tasting-style event the following day at the Riviera Beach Marina Village. We hope you’ll consider attending both events!

BEFORE YOU BOOK

The menu is set and we won’t be able to accommodate dietary preferences except gluten free.
Tell us of any allergies in advance so we can notify you of any issues.
Seating is communal, and we can’t seat parties of more than four together. (Meet someone new!)
Reservations are nonrefundable, but you may gift your spot to someone else if you are unable to attend.

about Pushkar

Chef Pushkar Maranthe has a lot on his proverbial plate these days. The former Chef de Cuisine recently from Meat Market Palm Beach just accepted a job to expand Ghee Kitchen, the new hotspot with his not-new (quite old actually) friend Niven Patel.

Pushkar grew up in Nagpur in central India, though today he resides in Deerfield Beach with his wife and young son. He’s worked all over the world, including Dean Max’s 3030 Ocean as well as the Pink Sands Resort in the Bahamas, the James Republic in Long Beach, the Brasserie in the Cayman Islands and Ritz Carlton in Qatar. He plans to open a modern Indian restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens within a few years. He’s motivated by seasonal and regional cuisine and looks to incorporate what is growing with the dishes he grew up with.
