This first in this series booked up so quickly last time that we decided another was in order for June! This time, we’ll be gathering in the Front Studio of the main House.
Join House ceramicist Sarah Glass for this *two part* workshop at the House where you’ll learn the essential skills needed for making functional pottery and create your very own finished piece to take home and enjoy. This series is suitable for beginners and intermediates alike.
Part 1, June 9:
1pm – 4pm
Spend the afternoon learning ceramics basics and getting hands-on wheel throwing instruction using white stoneware clay. You’ll learn the necessary skills needed for making functional pottery (plates, bowls, cups) and get some time on the wheel, with tips and tricks provided by Sarah. Enjoy a glass of rosé, some handbuilding practice and the company of like-minded attendees, as well.
* After the first day, we’ll give your pieces some time to dry out before the next class. *
Part 2, June 23:
1pm – 3pm
Time to finish your piece! After they dry, you’ll return to the House for helpful techniques and hands-on instruction from Sarah for beautifully glazing your pottery. After glazing, Sarah will fire the pieces in the kiln, and we’ll schedule a day for you to pick up your finished work.
This workshop series is suitable for complete beginners and intermediates alike. Sarah will provide all instruction needed for you to complete a wheel thrown piece from scratch, even if it’s your first time making pottery.
All tools and supplies are provided – just bring yourself and wear something you don’t mind getting a little messy.
The cost is $75 per person + tax ($60 for members), which includes all supplies, use of tools, instruction, a glass of rose and/or other light refreshments.
Don’t miss out! We’re limiting the size of this workshop to ensure that everyone gets adequate time on the wheels. Secure your spot ASAP.
Note: We are unable to provide refunds on reservations, but you are welcome to gift your spot to someone else – just email us with the new participant’s name and email address.
